SYNOPSIS OF A STEWARDSHIP SEMINAR

Introduction

A Stewardship Seminar is an estate planning seminar whereby a Planned Giving Officer from the Stewardship Department of the Pentecostal Holiness Church presents to your congregation a program on wills, trusts and other estate planning tools. The presentation is followed by personal, confidential interviews with individuals in the congregation who desire this type of counseling.

The Stewardship Seminar is a service ministry to the congregation of the local church so that they might have guidance in the planning of their estates.

Basically, the Seminar consists of an evening program during the week or on Sunday, followed by confidential interview sessions the next day.

  • EXAMPLE: The church has a stewardship appreciation service at which time the Planned Giving Officer presents a program consisting of a short introduction and a 30-45 minute presentation on the general concepts of wills and estate planning. The evening concludes with a question and answer period which allows the congregation to participate in a general sharing of concepts. The following day the Planned Giving Officer is available throughout the day for confidential interviews with individuals and families to answer their specific questions and aid them in their stewardship plans.

The Planned Giving Officer cannot draft wills for individuals; however, he acts as a facilitator between the participants and the attorney. He is able to counsel with individuals and set their directions to be presented to their attorney for drafting. This procedure saves the individuals concerned time and expense in consulting with the attorney for proper drafting of their documents.

The Stewardship Department retains the services of a Christian attorney who, for a minimal fee of $25.00 per will, reviews the Confidential Data Questionnaires and prepares the Wills of our members who do not have an attorney.

For the vast majority of our membership throughout the United States, a simple Will is sufficient for their estate planning needs. However, should additional documents be required, other services are provided.
